Services Utility: Peer Name Resolution Protocol Service Display Name (?): | Peer Name Resolution Protocol | Short Name (?): | PNRPSvc | Executable (?): | svchost.exe | Library (?): | p2psvc.dll | Depends On (?): | tcpip6, Peer Networking Identity Manager | Supports (?): | Peer Networking Identity Manager, Peer Networking | Description (?): | Enables Serverless Peer Name Resolution over the Internet | OS (?): | XP Home/Professional, Vista Home/Business, Server 2003, Vista Server | Startup (?): | Default | Home | Workstation | Server | Minimal | Tweaked | Automatic | Manual | Manual | Manual | Manual | Manual | Disabled | Disabled | | Explanation (?): | The peer name resolution protocol service provides Windows a pseudo serverless based name resolution system that runs through TCP/IP version 6 (IPv6). A seed server is used to populate a peer cloud and these peers hold onto a portion of the name record. This service is installed when you install IPv6 so if you want to disable this service then I would suggest just uninstalling IPv6 from add / remove programs in the control panel. |

"A people's dream died there. It was a beautiful dream. And I, to whom so great a vision was given in my youth, you see me now a pitiful old man who has done nothing, for the nations hoop is broken and scattered. There is no center any longer, and the sacred tree is dead." --Nicholas Black Elk of the Oglala Sioux
